Message from the principal:

     At Lamar County High/Vernon Intermediate School our mission is to educate the young people of this community and prepare them to achieve their highest level of independence and productivity in our society.  In order for us to be successful in accomplishing this mission, we count on the support of our parents and community.
     Each year we look forward to working with students, parents, and community members as we seek to reach our goal of a quality education in a secure, positive learning environment.  We take the responsibility of teaching your child seriously, and we thank you for entrusting us with your children.  We encourage you to be involved in your child's education, and please do not hesitate to contact us as the need arises.

Our Vision

It is the vision of Lamar County High/Vernon Intermediate School to foster a rich educational environment that promotes critical thinking, literacy, and intellectual curiosity while preparing students to reach their highest level of success in a technologically advanced, global society.



Our Beliefs

  1. All students can learn.
  2. Students learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning process.
  3. All teachers incorporate technology into their lesson plans from the Lamar County
    High/Intermediate School Technology Plan.
  4. All students on academic alert participate in Response to Intervention (RTI) classes.
  5. A safe and physically comfortable environment promotes student learning.
  6. Teachers, administrators, parents, and the community share the responsibility for
    advancing the school's mission.
