Message from the principal:

     At Lamar County High/Vernon Intermediate School our mission is to educate the young people of this community and prepare them to achieve their highest level of independence and productivity in our society.  In order for us to be successful in accomplishing this mission, we count on the support of our parents and community.
     Each year we look forward to working with students, parents, and community members as we seek to reach our goal of a quality education in a secure, positive learning environment.  We take the responsibility of teaching your child seriously, and we thank you for entrusting us with your children.  We encourage you to be involved in your child's education, and please do not hesitate to contact us as the need arises.

It is the vision of Lamar County High/Vernon Intermediate School to foster a rich educational environment that promotes critical thinking, literacy, and intellectual curiosity while preparing students to reach their highest level of success in a technologically advanced, global society.



Our Beliefs

  1. Every individual can learn.
  2. Responsibility for education is shared by students, teachers, parents, and community.
  3. Every individual is responsible for his/her attitude and actions based on their mental capabilities.
  4. Every individual is worthy of respect.
  5. Every individual is responsible for continuously using his/her abilities to the fullest.
  6. Every individual should be provided appropriate remediation and enrichment activities.
  7. Every individual has the right to be treated equally.
  8. Every individual needs a sense of purpose directed by a self-motivation to learn.
  9. Every individual needs positive recognition and the benefits of positive expectations.
  10. Every individual needs to demonstrate self-control and self-respect.
  11. Every individual deserves a quality education.
  12. Every individual deserves to have a safe, clean, positive learning environment.
  13. Every individual should be provided multiple opportunities in a variety of  formats to demonstrate his/her achievements.
